  • Has anyone played this? The devs are former Tell Tale people. The dialogue system seems pretty cool.

Erin Yvette and Gavin Hammon are in it.

This new captcha system is awful...

  • >>5071298

It would've been better if they kept the 4chan layout but you don't have to keep doing captcha which is a bonus.

  • >>4442999

/po/ thinks video games are degenerate so why would anyone care anyway?

  • >>4442998

This. Noone has cared about GamerGate in years. Is it even going on, anymore?

  • What is going on here? What is this thread?

If he started banning these threads, he would be seen as bad, blamed for trying to control the direction /v/ is going in instead of letting the board decide that for itself. Now he's getting blamed for low post quality and non vidja threads. Whatever he does, he is seen as a bad guy and people are calling for him to be replaced, as if that would accomplish anything.

Moderation and community should not fight against each other but have a symbiotic relationship. We do this job, not because it gives us some fake internet power, but because we want this website to be great.

The moderators are a necessary power to delete things that damage the board quality greatly. But what these things are is the decision of the community. Sometimes, rules are proposed and decided on in meta threads, sometimes people make boards with the rules they perceive as right. But in the end, it's the community that chooses what board they post on and therefore what rules they follow. No board can exist and prosper without it's users. They need to report the rule violations so we can do our jobs and most importantly, they have to make quality threads for all users to enjoy and participate in.

Boards in a sorry state are usually that way because the userbase caused it to be that way. To take /v/ as an example again, if a LOL thread receives over 400 replies, but well though out ones only get dubsposters, it is no wonder that the boards quality is terrible. No amount of moderation would solve this and banning LOL threads would just be a bandaid on the tumor.

Long winded rant over, I hope this is at least barely coherent.

  • I'd be annoyed as well if people kept making up bullshit and insult me.

This isn't a case of banter anymore, it's just rude.

Josh has been working on next for over a year, all day, every day. While 12.000 dollars might sound like much to /v/irgins, they don't seem to realize that people need to eat and pay rent. Just by dividing the money through the days of the year, that makes around 33 dollars a day to live of, and this has to pay rent, electricity, internet and food. I don't think a lot of that money was spend on extravagant commodities.

Then there is this constant claim that next is broken or bad software. I wrote a huge wall of text on this before (https://archive.is/kt8FE shocking truth revealed, I was hotpockets all along) and it still annoys me. Bugs can be fixed, looks can be changed, but instead of being constructive by finding and reporting the bugs, idiots across all boards are just circlejerking about how this is the end of 8chan somehow.

And then there is Hotwheels. He has been practically living for this website. He has done more than most other web admins would ever do to keep our community alive. But instead of being thankful, people insult him, call him a traitor and liar instead.
Imagine feeding your children and getting spit in the face as thanks. This is what he must feel like whenever he sees oneof those threads on /b/, you know the kind.

We have something good here and I don't want it to fall apart. We need to respect the people that allow us to keep this site running.

Volunteers like me and board owners are getting blamed for issues on boards that bring them into loose-loose situations. Let's take Mark, the owner of /v/, as an example. I haven't had much contact with him but I think I can understand him. He is trying to preserve the board culture of /v/, which had a bunch of not directly vidja related threads with their own subcommunities for years.

  • Went, got my machinist certification, and holy fuck is it easy to get bud on campus lol

so the image reversal bug has been removed?

    nicu

I personally know a global mod that hangs out in that secret irc /intl/ loves to talk about.

I can give you a little info on what I heard from him about HW and Josh.

HW has been posting less on the site, simply because he doesn't feel like it. His priority is fixing the site, he might become more present again after the switch to next.

Josh is doing his stuff and doesn't have anything meaningful to say anymore until the date of migration gets closer, no thoughts of suicide or anything.

In case next takes longer, HW will use his frontend vichan controller to make he site slightly more usable again until next is done, he is currently working on finishing that piece of software.

Truth is boring and mundane, nothing hidden or exiting is happening, all we have to do is stay calm and wait.

Oh ... here's one. We better gas Christians, too.

    >That's how choices should be presented.

Not only that, but there should be multiple things to take into consideration when making the choice that goes beyond "do I like this character?" Things that would give even people who don't like the character second thoughts about killing them. I recently played The Witcher 2 for a second time, and that game does ambiguous choices better than Telltale games do. Even in TWDS1, "difficult" choices are often easy for me to make because when you weigh the options and what they mean, it becomes obvious which is the better choice. It's not as easy in The Witcher 2 because there's a lot more to consider when making a choice.

    >I don't think pestering him on twitter will make this any faster.

It's not that, I just don't want him to kill himself before it's finished.

  • hey Josh
